Clay Layfield
About the Layfield Family

Clay was born April 30, 1972 in Macon, and spent his childhood in Warner Robins, GA and graduated from
Warner Robins
High School in 1990. From there he enrolled at
Brewton-Parker
College in
Mt. Vernon, GA where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education with an emphasis in percussion in 1995. After two years as assistant band director in Hazlehurst, GA and one year as the head director in Eastman, GA, Clay then left to enroll at Southern Seminary in
Louisville, Kentucky where he graduated in December 2002 with a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in worship.
Clay came to faith in Christ during
Vacation
Bible
School when he was 10 years old while attending
Shirley
Hills
Baptist
Church in
Warner Robins, GA. During his junior year of High School, Clay felt the call to full-time Christian ministry and specifically to the area of music. Starting in 1991, Clay has served several churches: Houston Lake Baptist in Perry, GA (youth minister); Hagan Baptist in Hagan, GA (music minister); Trinity Baptist in Vidalia, GA (music minister); Dover Baptist in Shelbyville, KY (music minister); First Baptist Sellersburg in Sellersburg, IN (interim music minister); First Southern Baptist in Clarksville, IN (music minister) and First Baptist Church Chatsworth (Associate Pastor and Minister of Music). He began serving FBC Eastman in November 2005.
In 1995, Clay married the former Amy Fields from
Blackshear, GA and she has been very active in church ministry as well. She has taught various Sunday School classes, directed 2 Vacation Bible Schools and has served as AWANA commander.
The Layfield family has been blessed with 3 wonderful children:
Joy Elizabeth – born August 20, 1996
Victoria Noël – born December 27, 1998
Clayton Michael – born September 27, 2002
